The Tigers came out with a defensive lineup to slow down the high-powered offense of SUNY Poly. The first 10 minutes saw both teams with opportunities, but it was the Wildcats that got on the score sheet first. In the 11
th minute, sophomore Edgar Gomez scored off a rebound that the Cobleskill keeper couldn't control to give Poly an early lead.Â
Poly sensed the momentum swinging in their favor and pressured Cobleskill the rest of the half. Their second goal came off a corner kick in the 31
st minute by Matthew McCord. Then with 10 seconds remaining in the half, the Tigers couldn't clear the ball off another corner kick and the Wildcats buried the ball in the back of the net to send the host into the half with a 3-0 lead.
Cobleskill tried to battle back, but the Wildcats defense answered every challenge. In the 52
nd minute, the hosts added their fourth goal of the game as defender Wakeley Banker headed home the final goal of the match.
The Tigers were out shot 31-2 on the evening and 6-1 on corner kicks. Junior
