Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team opened the home portion of their 2021-22 season on Tuesday evening by dropping an 84-77 decision to the visiting Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton College of Albany at the Iorio Gymnasium in non-conference action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 0-4 overall on the year while the Bobcats move to 4-1 overall on the season to date.
The Fighting Tigers trailed by as many as 11 points late in the contest before cutting the lead to 76-74 with 2:36 left in regulation. However, down the stretch missed free throws cost the home team as the Bobcats played more efficient down the stretch to secure the victory.
Junior power forward
Justin Feldman, Chester, N.Y., Chester High School/Orange Community College, turned in a stellar performance in defeat for Cobleskill with 18 points, eight rebounds five assists and four steals while junior forward
Juwan Malone, Brooklyn, N.Y., Brooklyn Collegiate High School/Fulton-Montgomery Community College, hit for 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots on the night.
Cobleskill also received strong outings from first-year guard
Yandeel Vazquez, Amsterdam, N.Y., Amsterdam High School, with 13 points and three assists, sophomore forward
Naphtali Regilus, Roselle, N.J., Abraham Clark High School/Essex Community College, 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists and first-year guard
Shaun Johnson, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Poughkeepsie High School, with 10 points and six rebounds.
The Orange & Black will return to action on Saturday November 20 when they host the Hawks of Hunter College in non-league action with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
