Fighting Tiger Baseball Roars into First Place in NAC Western Division Standings

Canton, N.Y.: After being rained out on Sunday afternoon the SUNY Cobleskill men's baseball team returned to SUNY Canton on Monday sweeping host Kangaroos in an important pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Western Division contests by scores of 13-2 and 5-4. With the sweep the Fighting Tigers solidify their lead over the division standings improving to 9-4 overall including a division leading 7-3 record in league action while Canton is now 5-9 overall with a 3-5 NAC record.

The Fighting Tiger offense mauled the Kangaroos in the opener scoring 13 runs on 17 hits, including four doubles, to go with three walks and five stolen bases as the visitors used a six-run fifth inning to secure the victory.

Operating in the lead-off spot for the first time this season, senior centerfielder Nick Thomas, Scotia, N.Y., Scotia-Glenville High School/Hudson Valley Community College, went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI while junior shortstop Eddy Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., World View High School, went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a pair of RBI for Cobleskill.
