Bangor, Maine: The SUNY Cobleskill men's baseball team saw their season end on Friday afternoon as the Fighting Tigers lost to the host Eagles of Husson University by a 14-6 margin at the 2021 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Series. With the loss Cobleskill closes the campaign with a 15-9 overall record while the Eagles head to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament with a 22-7 overall mark.
The Eagles flew out to a 4-1 lead after one inning and held a 9-2 advantage after five innings behind the bats of freshman designated hitter Curtis Jackson, Ellsworth Maine, Ellsworth High School, who would finish the day 4-for-5 with four doubles, seven runs batted in and a run scored and junior shortstop junior Kobe Rogerson, Brewer, Maine, Brewer High School, who would go 3-for-5 on the afternoon including four RBI.
Cobleskill would cut the Husson lead to 9-6 in the top of the sixth inning with four runs highlighted by a three-run home run by junior shortstop
Eddy Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., World View High School, and a run scoring double from freshman pitcher/designated hitter
Stephen Tejada, Queens, N.Y., High School for Construction, that drove in senior
Chris Kordziel, Rotterdam, N.Y., Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School, who had singled and advanced to second on a single by freshman catcher
Matthew Snyder, Latham, N.Y., Shaker High School.
However, that was as close as the Fighting Tigers would get as the Eagles would hold the visitors scoreless over the final three innings while tacking on five runs over the same span to secure the win and punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
Cobleskill starter
Stephen Tejada took the loss going 4.1 innings allowing seven runs, of which four were earned, striking out five while walking two and hitting four batters to drop his overall record to 2-1 on the year.
Offensively for the visitors
Eddy Garcia posted a 2-for-4 outing with a home run and three RBI while senior left fielder
Jayson Maxwell, Newport, N.Y., Notre Dame High School, went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored with
Chris Kordziel going 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base.
Stephen Tejada finished the day at the plate going 2-for-5 with a double and a pair of RBI and sophomore first baseman
Frank Leger, Bronx, N.Y., All Hallows High School, closed the day with a 2-for-5 outing with a run scored and an RBI.
Three Fighting Tigers were named to the 2021 NAC All-Tournament Team for their play during the post-season.

Devin Lewis, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, became the first players in program history to earn spots on the NAC All-Tournament Team.
The Fighting Tigers 15-9 season record represents the team's best record at the NCAA Division III level since the program moved to the NCAA from the NJCAA level of competition in 2008. The NAC Western Division Championship represents the program's first conference title of any
kind since the program won the Mountain Valley Conference Championship in 1985 while competing at the junior college level.
