Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team dropped their season opener at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex on Wednesday afternoon to the visiting Brewers from Vassar College by a 4-1 margin in non-league action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers open the campaign at 0-1 on the year while Vassar improves to 2-1 overall.

The visitors used three first half goals to effectively take control of the contest as the Brewers out shot the Fighting Tigers on the afternoon by a 22-to-2 margin while holding a 7-to-1 advantage in corner-kicks.

The Fighting Tigers lone goal came at the 52^nd minute when junior forward Tanner Reisman, Youngstown, N.Y., Lewiston-Porter High School, took a pass from first-year forward Ethan Klein, Waterford, N.Y., Shenendehowa High School, and blasted it home for the team's first goal of the year.

Between the pipes, junior goalkeeper John Gergen, Greenville, N.Y., Greenville High School, made seven saves and broke up several potential scoring plays in net for the Orange & Black over the course of the afternoon.

Cobleskill will next be in action over the weekend when the team travels to Alfred, N.Y. for the Bryan Karl Tournament hosted by Alfred University. The Fighting Tigers will open the event on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. when they face Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University. Cobleskill will then be in action on Sunday versus either the host Saxsons of Alfred University or the Saints of D'Youville College at either 11:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.
