South Hadley, MA – The Cobleskill women's basketball team dominates Mount Holyoke 76-37 in a non-conference road game. The Tigers improve to 9-9 on the season while the Lyons of Mount Holyoke fall to 2-10.
Four Cobleskill players scored in double figures, led by sophomore
Hannah Cater (Schoharie, NY) with a game high 20 points and 8 rebounds. She went 9-14 from the field and 1-2 from three-point range.
Freshman guard
Taylor Meacham (Berne, NY) showcased an impressive all-around game with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. She went 8-11 from the field.
Jordan Finch (East Meredith, NY) chipped in 12 points and
Annie Canales (North Adams, Mass.) added 11 points for the Tigers.
Annika Brooks led the Lyons with 13 points and Marley Bernao added 12 points.
Cobleskill jumped out to an early 15-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Tigers took a 35-11 lead heading into halftime after freshman guard
Keyara Maxwell (Middletown, NY) picked the pocket of a Lyons guard at half court and made the breakaway layup to extend the lead right before halftime.
The Tigers came out of the half hungry and continued their strong defensive pressure, making every possession difficult for the home team. Cobleskill outscored Mount Holyoke 41-26 in the second half and finished the game with a 39-point lead to win 76-37.
The Tigers used their size and height to their advantage throughout the game. They scored 60 of their 76 points in the paint and out-rebounded the Lyons 39-34.
Cobleskill put in a shift on the defensive side of the ball and caused Mount Holyoke to turn the ball over 31 times, which led to 21 steals and 18 fast break points for the Tigers.
Cobleskill finished the contest shooting 48.6 percent while the Lyons shot it at 30.8 percent.
The Tigers are in action next as they travel to Northern Vermont University-Lyndon for a NAC road game. Tip-off will be at 7:30 pm tip on Wednesday, February 2
