Johnson, Vt.: The road proved to be a rocky one for the SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon as the Fighting Tigers dropped a closely contested 2-1 decision to the host Badgers of Northern Vermont University-Johnson in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action. With the loss Cobleskill falls to 1-10-2 overall on the season including a 0-6-1 mark in NAC play while the Badgers move to 1-6-4 overall with a 1-3-3 conference record.
Trailing 2-0 in the second half the Fighting Tigers sophomore
Hayleigh Girard, Hudson Falls, N.Y., Hudson Falls High School, took a pass from first-year midfielder
Jessica Carney, Hopkinton, N.H., Hopkinton High School, in the 69
th minute of play and found the back of the net to make it 2-1.
However, that was a close as the Orange & Black would get as the game turned into a defensive battle over the last 20 minutes which allowed the Badgers to record the victory.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday October 19 when they travel to Delhi, N.Y. for a NAC meeting with the Broncos of SUNY Delhi beginning at 6:00 p.m.
