Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team remained unbeaten at home this season using aggressive defense and stellar shooting to ground the visiting Soaring Eagles of Elmira College 81-74 in non-league action on Tuesday evening at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 3-1 overall on the year while the Soaring Eagles fall to 0-4 overall on the year.
Trailing at the half by a 36-34 margin the Fighting Tigers used an impressive second half shooting effort to deny the visiting Soaring Eagles the win converting on 13-of-24, 54.2%, of their shots from the field including 4-of-7, 57.1%, from three-point range and an impressive 17-of-19, 89.5%, from the free throw line to secure the victory.
Senior forward
Justin Feldman, Chester, N.Y., Chester High School/Orange Community College, paced a balanced Cobleskill attack leading all scorers with 21 points to go with five rebounds and three assists while junior guard
Andre Starks, Fairport, N.Y., Fairport High School/Corning Community College, added 18 points, four assists and three rebounds on the night.
The Fighting Tigers also received strong all-around efforts from junior guard
Iziah Pigott, Brooklyn, N.Y., Urban Assembly High School/Dutchess Community College, with 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and a pair of steals and from sophomore guard
Shelvon Grant, Brooklyn, N.Y., Poughkeepsie High School, who tallied 13 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Thursday November 17 when they travel to Chicopee, Mass. for a non-conference meeting with the Blazers of Elms College with tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
