Fighting Tiger Baseball Knocked Out of NAC Championship Tournament

SUNY Cobleskill Eliminated From 2022 NAC Championship Tournament


Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team ended their season on Monday losing a pair of games at the 2022 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Tournament hosted by the Cobleskill at Fighting Tiger Field falling in the opener to the Eagles of Husson University by a 7-2 then losing in the elimination round to the Terriers of Thomas College by a score of 24-8. With the defeats the Fighting Tigers close the campaign with a 21-20 overall record.

Cobleskill trailed the Eagles 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Husson struck for three runs never looked back as a last inning Fighting Tiger rally left the tying runs stranded to end the game.

First year center fielder Zach Ducorsky, Oceanside, N.Y. Oceanside High School, was a factor offensively for the Orange & Black going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI with sophomore third baseman David Flora, Windsor, N.Y., Windsor High School/Herkimer Community College, also going 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Senior shortstop Eddy Garcia, Bronx, N.Y., World View High School, also turned in a solid effort at the plate going 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

In the second game Fighting Tiger pitchers had no answer for a determined Terrier offense that scored 24 runs on 22 hits including a pair of home runs and three doubles.

Senior right fielder Samuel Gutierrez, Bayside, N.Y., Martin Van Buren High School/Queensborough Community College, was the team's top performer with the lumber going 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, a home run, a double, two runs scored and three RBI while shortstop Eddy Garcia went 2-for-5 with a double, a runs scored and an RBI with third baseman David Flora  also going 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

The Fighting Tigers close the campaign by posting the most victories in program history with 21 while notching their third consecutive winning season capturing their second consecutive NAC Western Division Championship under the direction of fourth-year Head Coach Lance Ratchford.
