Fighting Tiger Women's Volleyball Drop Marathon Road Battle to Russell Sage

Miranda Post 12 kill Effort in 3-2 Road Loss at Russell Sage on Wednesday


Troy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team traveled to Russell Sage College on Wednesday evening for a marathon session with the host Gators that saw the home team post a 3-2 victory over the Fighting Tigers by set scores of 24-26, 25-19, 28-26, 26-28 and 15-10 in a match that lasted 2:36 minutes. 

In a contest that featured multiple lead changes, extended play the result of multiple game points and several controversial officiating decisions the teams treated the fans to an evening of exciting college volleyball.

The Fighting Tigers received some strong play at the net from junior middle hitter Alexis Miranda, Nashua, N.Y., Nashua High School, who tallied a team high 12 kills on the evening and from junior outside hitter MacKenzie Larson, Winterset, Iowa, Winterset High School, who filled the stat sheet with 19 digs, 11 kills, five service aces and three total blocks. Junior outside hitter Abigail Scheurich, Oxford, Conn., Nonnewaug High School, chipped in 10 kills to go with five digs while sophomore middle hitter Eva Norris, Wolcott, N.Y., North Rose-Wolcott High School, contributed five kills and three total blocks on the evening.

Junior libero Victoria O'Bar, Middlebury, Conn., Nonnewaug High School, turned in a strong effort with 13 digs, three service aces and a kill with junior setter Kasey Orlowski, Hewitt, N.J., West Milford High School, posting a team high of 17 assists to go with five digs.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday September 17 when they travel to Keuka Park, N.Y. for a non-conference meeting with the Wolves of Keuka College with first serve scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
