Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team opened their weekend North Atlantic Conference (NAC) homestand on Friday evening with a dramatic last second win over the visiting Wildcats of Cazenovia College by a 63-62 margin. With the win the Fighting Tigers improve to 14-4 overall on the year including a 6-2 record in NAC action while the Wildcats are now 10-7 overall with a 5-3 record versus league opponents.
In a game that featured six ties and seven lead changes the Fighting Tigers found themselves on the short end of a 62-60 score with eight seconds remaining when junior point guard
Iziah Pigott, Brooklyn, N.Y., Urban Assembly High School/Dutchess Community College, penetrated the lane drawing the Wildcat defense and kicked the ball out to the corner where first-year swingman
Jeremy Rosario, Colonie, N.Y., Colonie High School, was left open for a corner three-pointer which he swished to give Cobleskill a 63-62 lead.
The Wildcats then made a quick inbounds getting the ball to a junior forward Kove Bogart, Owego, N.Y., Owego High School, who attacked the basket with a full head of steam. However as the Cazenovia forward barreled into the paint he ran over a firmly planted
Iziah Pigott who got the offensive foul call with 1.1 seconds remaining to terminate the possession and secure the win for the home team.
Pigott keyed the Cobleskill attack with 18 points to go with six rebounds, five assists and two steals on the evening while Rosario came off the bench to score 16 points and grab nine rebounds. Junior guard
Andre Starks, Rochester, N.Y., Fairport High School/Corning Community College, also played a major role in the victory with 10 points, four assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals.
