Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team closed out their 2023 season on Saturday battling the visiting Kangaroos of SUNY Canton to a 0-0 tie in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action. With the tie the Fighting Tigers close the campaign at 2-11-2 overall including a 1-7-1 record versus NAC opponents while the Kangaroos are now 0-11-4 with a 0-6-2 record in conference play.

On a cold and windy afternoon at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex, neither team was shy about putting heat on the opposing goalkeeper as the Kangaroos took 27 shots on the afternoon while the Fighting Tigers had 15 shots to go with six corner kicks on the day.

The story of the day for the Orange & Black was the play in net by junior Destiny Irizarry, Queens, N.Y., Port Jervis High School, who due to injuries was forced to make an emergency start in goal.

Irizarry turned in a spectacular effort in her first start of the season making 13 saves including two at point blank range in the final two minutes to preserve the tie and deny Canton the victory.
