Troy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team returned to action on Sunday dropping a 65-55 decision to the host Engineers of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in non-conference action. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers are currently 3-4 overall on the season to date while the Engineers are now 2-3 overall on the campaign.
The Engineers took advantage of their size to take a 36-24 lead into the locker room at halftime using 12 offensive rebounds which led to 12 second chance points to take control of the action. On the afternoon RPI would use a 45-34 advantage on the glass and a 42-26 advantage in points scored in the paint to stifle Cobleskill's second half comeback efforts and secure the victory.
The Fighting Tigers were led by the tandem of sophomore guard
Kobe Long, Rochester, N.Y., McQuaid Jesuit High School, who scored a team high of 21 points and sophomore swingman
Jeremy Rosario, Colonie, N.Y. Colonie High School, who scored 20 points to go with five rebounds to keep the Orange & Black in striking distance.
