Cobleskill, N.Y.: In a renewal of one of the oldest men's basketball rivalries in New York State basketball history the visiting Morrisville State Mustangs defeated the host Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill 84-72 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 4-5 overall on the season including a 1-1 record in conference action while the Mustangs improve to 5-2 overall with a perfect 2-0 mark versus league opponents,
The Mustangs struck early and often in the contest jumping out to an early 16-4 lead from which they never look back as Cobleskill couldn't overcome the Morrisville size advantage in the paint as the visitors won the battle of the boards by a 46-36 margin leading to 52 points in the paint.
Sophomore guard
Kobe Long, Rochester, N.Y., McQuaid Jesuit High School, led the Fighting Tigers in scoring with 17 points to go with six rebounds, two assists and a pair of blocked shots while sophomore swingman
Jeremy Rosario, Colonie, N.Y., Colonie High School, scored 11 points, to go with a team high of seven rebounds along with three steals. Senior guard
Andre Starks, Rochester, N.Y., Fairport High School/Corning Community College, was also a factor in the game with nine points, three rebounds and a pair of assists.
Cobleskill will return to action on Monday December 4 when they host the Blue Knights of Mount Saint Mary's College in non-league play with tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
