Johnson, Vt.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team continued their winning ways on Saturday afternoon closing out their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) weekend road trip with an 83-70 victory over the host Badgers of Vermont State University-Johnson in conference play to extend their current winning streak to three games. The conference victory puts the Fighting Tigers overall record at 7-5 on the season to date including a 3-1 record versus NAC opponents while the Badgers fall to 1-11 overall with a 1-3 record in conference action.
Leading 36-34 at the half the Fighting Tigers turned to their long-range shooting to pull away from the home team connecting on 13-of-29, 44.8%, of their three-point attempts. The Cobleskill defense also played an active role on the afternoon forcing the Badgers into 19 turnovers which they turned into 18 points to secure the victory.
Sophomore guard
Kobe Long, Rochester, N.Y., McQuaid Jesuit High School, played a key role in the win, with a team high of 22 points along with six steals and a pair of assists while sophomore swingman
Jeremy Rosario, Colonie, N.Y., Colonie High School, added 14 points, five steals and a blocked shot. Senior guard
Andre Starks, Rochester, N.Y., Fairport High School/Corning Community College added 11 points and four rebounds and sophomore guard
Quanire Greene, Albany, N.Y., Bishop Maginn High School, came off the bench to score 14 points in a reserve role.
Fighting Tiger senior center
Markel Jenkins, Elmira, N.Y., Elmira High School/Corning Community College, continued to give the Orange & Black solid post play since his return from the injury list scoring eight points, grabbing six rebounds and recording a blocked shot on the afternoon.
Cobleskill will return to action on Thursday December 14 when they host the Owls of Westfield State University in non-league action at the Iorio Gymnasium with tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
