SUNY Cobleskill Names Nick Logan 2022-23 Iorio Scholar-Athlete Award Recipient

Fighting Tigers Name Nick Logan 2022-23 Male Scholar-Athlete Award Recipient


Cobleskill, N.Y.:  The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that junior Nick Logan, Queensbury, N.Y., Queensbury High School, a member of the Fighting Tiger men's cross country and track & field programs has been named the 2022-23 Nick Iorio Men's Scholar Athlete Award recipient. Logan received the award at the athletic program's annual athletic awards convocation.

The Nick Iorio Men's Scholar Athlete Award is presented to the male upper-class scholar athlete who has completed a minimum of seventy-five percent of their degree requirements at the college with a minimum of a 3.0 during their career. The honoree is someone who has attained success on the field of competition through their contributions and achievements while demonstrating an equally strong commitment to academic excellence.

The Queensbury, N.Y. native has earned a 3.80 GPA in Plant Science while twice earning First Team All-North Atlantic Conference (NAC) First Team honors in Cross Country in 2021 and 2022 and winning the conference championship in the 1500-Meter Run at the league's 2023 NAC Track & Field Championships.

When speaking about his team captain Fighting Tiger Head Cross Country Coach Mitch Tomaszkiewicz had high words of praise.

"Nick is an extremely focused young man who has found that unique balance between scholarship and athletic success that allows him to excel in both venues. In my mind this is the most important award for a student-athlete to receive. We are extremely proud of Nick and the way that he represents our team, our athletic program and our institution."

Fighting Tiger Head Track & Field Coach Zach Haskin spoke about how proud he was of Logan and about where he is headed to in the future.

"I am very proud of the way Nick finished out the year with the track season and his academics. Holding a 3.8 overall, he is very passionate about what he is learning in the classroom. With the combination of his drive and on the and the knowledge in the classroom, Nick Logan will be a great leader in the workforce. I am looking forward to all the successful things he is going to do in the future."
