Fighting Tiger Baseball Open's 2023 NAC Baseball Championship Tournament with 19-2 Win Over SUNY Canton

SUNY Cobleskill Baseball Mauls SUNY Canton Kangaroos 19-2 in NAC Championship Tournament Opener


 
Bangor, Maine: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team opened the 2023 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Tournament by easily outdistancing the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton by a 19-2 margin at Husson University's Harold Alfond Diamond on Sunday afternoon. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 21-13 overall and advance to the tournament's winners' bracket while the Kangaroos fall to 11-22 and move to today's losers' bracket.
 
Meeting for the sixth time this season the Fighting Tigers feasted on Kangaroo pitching pounding out 21 hits on the afternoon with multiple players recording multiple hit efforts in support of senior southpaw Devin Lewis, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, who recorded the victory by going 6.2 innings allowing only two earned runs on six hits while striking out 10 and walking two.
 
Among the many hitting heroes for Cobleskill were first-year right fielder Logan Firment, Andes, N.Y., South Kortright High School, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI, sophomore second baseman Stephen Tejada, Queens, N.Y., High School, for construction, who was 3-for-3 with a triple, a stolen base, three runs scored and three RBI, sophomore catcher Logan Hutter, Smithtown, N.Y., Smithtown West High School, who was 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI and sophomore catcher Dylan Pohl, East Meadow, N.Y., East Meadow High School, who was 3-for-5 with a double, a stolen base, two runs scored and two RBI.
 
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Monday May 8 when they return to Husson University's Harold Alfond Diamond to meet the winner of today's Husson University versus Thomas College game with first pitch slated for 12:00 p.m.
