Waterville, Maine: The SUNY Cobleskill baseball team saw their season end on Tuesday afternoon dropping a pair of games to the host Eagles of Husson University at the 2023 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Tournament at the Eagles' Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex's Harold Alfond Diamond by scores of 16-6 and 4-1. With the losses the Fighting Tigers close the campaign at 22-15 while Husson claims their third consecutive conference title and the league's NCAA Championship Tournament Bid with a 24-17 record.
In the opener Husson rocked the Fighting Tiger pitching staff and took advantage of a pair of errors for eight runs in the opening two innings to take an early 8-0 lead and held a 9-2 advantage going into the bottom of the sixth when Cobleskill struck for three runs highlighted by two run single off the bat of sophomore second baseman
Stephen Tejada, Queens, N.Y., High School for Construction, that made it 9-5 heading into the seventh.
However, the home team would answer with six runs in the seventh to extend their lead to 15-5 and effectively decide the issue and force a winner-take-all scenario second game.
At the plate
Stephen Tejada was 2-for-4 with three runs batted in while junior first baseman
Chris Champlin, Jefferson, N.Y., South Kortright High School, went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI with junior shortstop

In the nightcap the Fighting Tigers struck first in the top of the sixth inning when first baseman

The Cobleskill lead did not last long as in the bottom of the seventh, Eagle catcher Ty Knowlton led off the bottom of the seventh with a home run of Cobleskill right hander
Tanner Wood, Glenville, N.Y., Niskayuna High School, to tie the game at 1-1.
In the bottom of the eighth to Eagles put runners on second and third with no outs versus Woods which led Cobleskill to go to senior

The Fighting Tiger ace could not stem the tide and Husson responded by picking up three runs in the frame to take 4-1 lead to cement the victory and the league title.
