Quincy, Mass.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team opened their 2023 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) season on Saturday by dropping a 2-0 decision to the host Lions of Eastern Nazarene College (ENC). With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-4-1 on the year including a 0-1 record in league action while the Lions move to 1-2 overall with a 1-0 record in NAC play.
The home team scored first in a defensive dominated first half in the 44
th minute on a goal by junior midfielder Kayla Dorn, Hampton, Ill., on an assist from senior defender Kenna Cruise, Fairhaven, Mass. The same duo also scored the contest's final goal in the 87
th minute of action to provide the Lions with the 2-0 victory.
Fighting Tiger first-year goalkeeper
Jojo Leubner, Marcellus, N.Y., Marcellus High School, turned in a stellar effort in the net to keep the visitors in the game facing 20 Lion shots while recording 10 saves on the afternoon.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Wednesday September 20 when they travel to Albany, N.Y. to fact the Panthers of the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with kick-off slated for 7:00 p.m.
