Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Fighting Tigers Fall Short in 1-0 Battle Against SUNY Delhi

Adam Champlin records six saves in the loss

Cobleskill, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team came up just short at home, falling 1-0 to SUNY Delhi in a closely contested North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup. A first-half goal from Delhi proved decisive, dropping Cobleskill to 4-10-3 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play.

Second-year goalkeeper Adam Champlin (South Kortright, NY) delivered a standout performance with six saves, keeping the Fighting Tigers within reach throughout the match. Offensively, Conor Flanigan (Troy, NY), Joshua Sanchez (Bronx, NY/New Visions), Devon Zapatka (Oakville, CT/Nonnewaug), and Spencer Reisman (Youngstown, NY/Lewiston Porter) each tested Delhi's keeper Salvatore Meloni, who made five saves to preserve the shutout.

Delhi led Cobleskill in shots, posting 13 to Cobleskill's 7, including a 7-5 edge in shots on target. Delhi also controlled set pieces, earning nine corner kicks compared to Cobleskill's three. The match saw physical play from both sides, with Cobleskill committing 13 fouls to Delhi's five.

The game's only goal came in the 13th minute, as Michael Williams Jr. capitalized on a corner from Roberto Velasquez-Osorio to secure the lead. Cobleskill pushed for a late equalizer, including a final corner opportunity, but couldn't find the net. Champlin's key saves highlighted Cobleskill's defensive resilience, yet Delhi's early goal held firm.

The Fighting Tigers now turn their focus to the NAC Men's Soccer Tournament, where they will face VTSU-Johnson in the first round on Wednesday, October 30. Kickoff time is to be announced.
