Cobleskill, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team opened North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Tuesday evening, falling 75-54 to visiting SUNY Delhi at the Iorio Gymnasium. The Fighting Tigers held a narrow 28-26 halftime lead but were outscored 49-26 in the second half as the Broncos surged ahead to claim the win.

Jermaine Wheeler (Manhattan, NY/Marist) led Cobleskill with 12 points and 8 rebounds, making his presence felt in the paint on both ends. Second-year guard
Elijah Morris (Mount Vernon, NY) matched Wheeler with 12 points, including two three-pointers, while first-year standout
Marquay Tanksley (Cohoes, NY) contributed 7 points and 6 rebounds off the bench. Junior guard
Quanire Greene (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn) added 6 points and 2 assists, and forward
Chalik Rush (Manhattan, NY/Graphic Arts) chipped in with 8 points and 7 rebounds.
Statistically, the Fighting Tigers struggled to find offensive efficiency, shooting just 34.9% from the field compared to Delhi's 47.6%. Cobleskill connected on only 2 of 18 attempts from beyond the arc (11.1%), while Delhi made 5 of 15 (33.3%). Turnovers also proved costly, as the Broncos scored 11 points off Cobleskill's 11 giveaways and held a 44-37 advantage on the boards, including pivotal offensive rebounds.
The first half was tightly contested. Delhi opened with a 13-8 lead at the 10:11 mark, but the Fighting Tigers responded with a commanding 12-0 run to take a 20-13 advantage, sparked by six points from Wheeler. Cobleskill maintained its momentum, extending the lead to 22-15 with 3:30 remaining on a jumper by Rush. However, Delhi fought back, capping the half with a late layup to narrow Cobleskill's lead to 28-26 at the break. The Tigers' defensive intensity, led by Morris and Rush, held the Broncos to 37.9% shooting in the first 20 minutes.
In the second half, Cobleskill briefly reclaimed a 34-33 edge after a pair of free throws by Wheeler at the 17:01 mark. From there, Delhi's offense caught fire, going on a decisive 16-7 run to build a 49-41 lead with 8:54 to play. The Broncos continued to pull away, extending their advantage to 66-51 with 2:47 left, effectively sealing the game.
The Fighting Tigers will aim to regroup on Saturday, November 7, when they host Lesley University in another NAC matchup at 3:00 p.m. in the Iorio Gymnasium.
