Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team began their final North Atlantic Conference (NAC) regular season homestand on Friday evening dropping a 96-88 decision the visiting Broncos of SUNY Delhi in league action at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers fall to 14-10 overall on the year with a 9-4 record in conference action while the Broncos improve to 13-11 overall on the year to date with a 7-6 record in NAC play.
The Fighting Tigers held a 45-42 at half-time and extended their advantage to 58-50 with 15:58 left to play on a pair of free throws by senior center

From that point on the Broncos responded by going on a 31-11 run to take an 81-69 lead with 5:28 remaining then weathered a Fighting Tiger comeback which brought the home within four points on a jumper by senior guard
Andre Starks, Rochester, N.Y., Fairport High School/Corning Community College, at 92-88 with 24 seconds left in regulation.
However, down the stretch Delhi converted their free throws and while the Fighting Tigers went cold from the field to decide the issue.
Andre Starks scored a career high of 36 points to go with five assists and five rebounds while senior guard
Iziah Pigott, Brooklyn, N.Y., Adams Street Academy/Dutchess Community College, added 16 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Cobleskill also received strong outings from
Markel Jenkins who had a double/double with 10 points and 16 rebounds and from senior swingman
Devin Dennard, Elmira, N.Y., Elmira High School/Corning Community College, with 14 points and three assists.
Cobleskill will close out the regular season on Saturday February 10 when they host the Lions of Eastern Nazarene College in league action with tip-off at 1:00 p.m. The game will also be senior day for the Fighting Tigers class of 2024.
