Cobleskill, NY: The Fighting Tigers closed out their home schedule on Saturday afternoon, falling 2-0 to SUNY Delhi in North Atlantic Conference play at the Cobleskill Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
The Tigers backline battled throughout the afternoon, led by senior
Kayleigh Bryant (Schenevus, NY) and first-year
Amanda Rice (Cobleskill, NY), who helped limit Delhi's chances from open play. In net, goalkeeper
Samantha Fausti (Clayton, WA) turned in a strong performance under pressure, recording 12 saves, including several acrobatic stops to keep Cobleskill within striking distance.
Delhi opened the scoring in the eighth minute when Shaniyah Myers found the back of the net to give the Broncos an early 1-0 lead. The visitors doubled their advantage 20 minutes later as Myers struck again, finishing her second goal of the match to make it 2-0 heading into halftime.
In the second half, Cobleskill continued to push forward in search of a breakthrough, but the Delhi defense held firm to protect their lead. Despite a more organized effort from the Tigers and several stretches of solid defensive play, neither side found the back of the net after halftime, and the Broncos secured the 2-0 conference win.
Delhi controlled much of the possession throughout the match, finishing with 32 total shots, including 14 on goal, while limiting the Tigers to none.
