Cobleskill Rides to Third at Morrisville, Holds Reserve Champion Spot

Morrisville, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill women's equestrian hunt seat team delivered a strong performance at SUNY Morrisville over the weekend, earning a third-place finish with 35 points. With just one competition remaining in the season, the Fighting Tigers maintain their Reserve Champion position in the region, holding a narrow four-point lead over Colgate University.

Mackenzie Caldwell (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W. Baker) led the way for Cobleskill with a dominant showing, claiming first place in both over-fences and on-the-flat competition. First-year rider Sophia Scala-Palladino (Pine Bush, NY) and senior Amber Reilly (Morris, NY) also impressed over fences, finishing second and third, respectively, while sophomore Oksana Wynnik (Champlain, NY/Northeastern Clinton) added a third-place ride over fences and a second-place finish on the flat.

First-year Sage Badman (Fabius, NY/Fabius-Pompey) turned in another consistent performance, taking second in both her over-fences and flat classes. Other top finishes included Leta Bernhardt (Williamson, NY), Meara Kelly (Levittown, NY/General Douglas MacArthur), and Alyse Bechtold (Oneonta, NY), who each secured second or third in their respective flat divisions. Junior rider Casey Van Nostrand (Guilderland, NY) rounded out the team's jumping efforts with a second-place result over fences, along with a fifth-place finish on the flat.

With just one show remaining, the Fighting Tigers will look to hold off Colgate and secure their standing as the region's Reserve Champion on Saturday, March 1, at 9:00 a.m. at Siena College at the Dutch Manor Stable.
