Morgantown, WV: SUNY Cobleskill junior rider
Casey Van Nostrand (Guilderland, NY) closed out her 2024-25 IHSA hunt seat season with a strong showing at the Zone 2 Championships in West Virginia, earning a third-place finish in the Open Flat class on April 5. The performance capped a successful postseason that saw Van Nostrand advance through the highly competitive Region 3 Finals, where she was named Reserve Champion Rider for Open Flat on March 29 at Skidmore College.
Van Nostrand's ride at Regionals qualified her for the Zone 2 Finals, where she turned in another polished trip. Though just shy of reaching the IHSA Nationals — where only the top two advance — Van Nostrand's poise and precision earned praise from coaches and peers alike.
A standout both in the ring and the classroom, Van Nostrand is pursuing degrees in Animal Science and Histotechnology and was recently inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national honor society for student-athletes. She's qualified for Regional Finals every year since joining the team and played a key role in helping SUNY Cobleskill earn its third consecutive Reserve Champion Team title for Zone 2 Region 3 this spring.
The team's postseason run followed a strong regular season, highlighted by a tie for High Point Team honors at the Siena College show. Van Nostrand's contributions — from confident diagonals to collected finishes — have helped shape Cobleskill's hunt seat squad into one of the most consistent programs in the region.
