Marcy, N.Y. – The SUNY Cobleskill men's cross country team opened its 2025 season on Saturday morning at the SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational, racing the 6K course. The Fighting Tigers placed third overall in the team standings with 82 points, finishing behind Utica (21) and Oneonta (46).
Senior
Nik Recore (Peru, NY) led the charge for Cobleskill with an impressive fifth-place overall finish, clocking a time of 20:21.4 at a 5:28 mile pace. He was followed by senior
Jacob Rhinesmith (Sommerset, NJ/Nation Ford) who placed 27th in 23:30.8, and junior
Michael Jocz (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee), who crossed in 24:46.5 for 35th overall.
Rounding out the Tigers' top five were junior
David Kogan (Brooklyn, NY/Edward R. Murrow) in 25:11.4 (36th) and junior
Antonio Gonzalez (Niskayuna, NY) in 25:26.9 (38th). Freshman
Uriel Lopez Navarro (Brewster, NY) and sophomore
Charles Cooper (Connetquot, NY) also gained valuable experience in their season debuts.
The Tigers finished third as a team with an average time of 23:52, using the early-season test to set the foundation for the fall campaign.

Cobleskill will return to action next Saturday, September 6, when they host their annual Steven A. Warde Invitational at 11 a.m. on their home course.
