Cobleskill Celebrates Senior Day with 80-28 Win Over UMPI

Cobleskill, NY – The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team capped off a perfect weekend in North Atlantic Conference play with a dominant 80-28 Senior Day victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday evening, closing out the regular season home schedule in the Iorio Gymnasium in emphatic fashion to extend their win streak to six games.

Senior Mady Victorin (Menands, NY) powered the Tigers with her second career double-double, leading all scorers with 16 points while pulling down 12 rebounds and adding a block. Victorin shot 6-of-11 from the field and went 4-of-7 from the free throw line. Fellow senior Zaylee Ramos (Worcester, MA) followed with 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists, shooting an efficient 5-of-7 from the floor and knocking down her lone three-point attempt. Alyssa Martin (Castleton, NY) provided a spark off the bench with 12 points and three rebounds, draining three triples. Hannah Bonczkowski (Gilbertsville, NY) and Kyara Triblet (Colonie, NY) each chipped in nine points, with Triblet adding seven rebounds and three assists to round out a balanced Cobleskill attack.

Cobleskill's defense put together one of its strongest performances of the season, holding UMPI to a season-low 28 points and limiting the Owls to just 15.0 percent shooting from the field, including 0-for from three-point range. The Tigers also forced 15 turnovers and converted them into 18 points. Cobleskill shot 42.9 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc while controlling the glass with a 58-41 rebounding advantage. The Tigers led wire-to-wire and built their lead as high as 58 points. Cobleskill's depth once again played a key role, as the Tigers' bench outscored UMPI 43-5.

The Tigers set the tone immediately, jumping out to a 23-5 lead after the first quarter. Cobleskill opened the game on a 16-0 run, holding UMPI scoreless for over six minutes, with Victorin scoring four points during the stretch. A Martin three-pointer and a layup from Sydney Delisle (Mechanicville, NY) helped the Tigers carry momentum into the second.

Cobleskill continued to build separation in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 30-5 after a pull-up jumper from Kate Hadwen (Fair Haven, VT). Victorin added five straight points late in the quarter to keep the Tigers firmly in control, and a Bonczkowski steal and layup in the final moments helped Cobleskill head into halftime with a commanding 40-9 advantage.

The Tigers came out of the locker room with the same intensity, opening the third quarter with an 8-0 run fueled by back-to-back triples from Ramos and Martin. Layups from Triblet kept the offense rolling, and a Victorin bucket in the closing seconds of the quarter sent Cobleskill into the fourth with a 60-17 lead.

Cobleskill finished the job in the fourth, opening the period with a 10-0 run to stretch the lead to 70-17 after a jumper from Emilie Eritano (Madison Heights, MI), assisted by Triblet. Isabella Santana (Walden, NY) added to the scoring late with a layup off a nice feed from Hadwen, as the Tigers closed out the 80-28 Senior Day victory.
