Head Women's Soccer Coach Chuckwuma Asala

Coach Asala enters his third season as the Fighting Tigers head women's soccer coach at SUNY Cobleskill. In 2023, he led the team to a 2-11-2 record, including at 1-6-1 North Atlantic Conference record.  The season highlight came against VTSU-Lyndon when the Tigers picked up a 3-1 NAC win on the road.  Six of his players were named to the women's soccer All-Academic team for their efforts and excellence in the classroom. 

In his first season, he led the Fighting Tigers to a 1-12-2 overall record after SUNY Cobleskill took a year off of competition for the 2020 NCAA season.  Despite the overall record, they had three games decided within a goal and five games within two goals.  They had eight student-athletes named to the NAC All-Academic Team. 

The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced in 2022 that Chukwuma Asala was the new Fighting Tigers Head Women's Soccer Coach. Asala comes to Cobleskill after serving as the Head Girls Varsity Soccer Coach at Holy Names Academy of Albany, N.Y. where he posted a 61-13-3 record over the past three seasons winning two Colonial Council and a pair of Section II Championships.

Asala was a standout player at Union College where he received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics (B.S.) from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. and a Master of Business Administration in Human Resources and Information Systems (M.B.A.) from the University at Albany in Albany, N.Y.
