In her inaugural year at the helm of the Fighting Tiger women's volleyball program in 2023, head coach Kate Isaksen led the program to a significant improvement as Cobleskill posted a 12-16 overall record, up from 5-18 in 2022, including a 5-5 record versus North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponents which brought the team back to the league's play-offs.Â
Isaksen came to Cobleskill after serving as SUNY Brockport’s Interim Head Coach in 2022 after leading the Golden Eagles to a 20-8 overall record including an 8-1 mark in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play and the championship game of the league’s conference tournament. She served as the program’s assistant coach in 2021 helping the team to a 17-10 overall record with a 6-3 mark in SUNYAC play.
A product of the capital region volleyball community, Isaksen was a standout for Section II volleyball powerhouse Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School under Hall-of-Fame Head Coach Gary Bynon helping the Spartans to a New York State Championship in 2015 while being selected to the All-New York State Team before playing collegiately at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y. where she was a three-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American and a three-time AVCA All-New York First Team selection, a four-time Liberty League All-Star, a three-time Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III and a two-time College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-American selection.
As an undergraduate, Isaksen double majored in Computer Science and Mathematics earning her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in 2020 and will complete her MSED in Adolescent Mathematics Education (grades 5 thru 12) from SUNY Brockport in 2024.
