Cobleskill, NY: The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department has named senior women's basketball player Antonia May (Amsterdam, NY) as the Fighting Tiger Athlete of the Week for the period ending November 17, 2024.
The Amsterdam native delivered in the clutch during Sunday's thrilling overtime victory against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (R.P.I.). With just two seconds left in regulation, May calmly sank two free throws to tie the game at 80-80, sending it to overtime. Once there, she sealed the deal by hitting four consecutive free throws, propelling the Fighting Tigers to a dramatic 92-88 win. May finished the game with a season-high 30 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and a near-perfect 11-for-12 showing at the free-throw line.
Earlier in the week, May was a key contributor in Cobleskill's road win at Alfred State. She filled the stat sheet with nine points, seven rebounds, three steals, and a block. For the week, she averaged 19.5 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals while shooting an impressive 83.3% (15-of-18) from the line.
May and the Fighting Tigers will return to action this weekend in Arlington, VA, at the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament. They are set to face a formidable challenge in nationally ranked #15 Gettysburg College on Friday, November 22, at 7:00 p.m.
