Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team posted a hard fought victory in their home opener on Wednesday evening over visiting Green Mountain College 75-57 at the Iorio Gymnasium in non-league action. With the win the Fighting Tigers improve their record to 1-2 overall while the Eagles fall to 0-2 overall on the year to date.
The visitors took a 22-21 lead at the end of the first half behind an aggressive defensive effort that held the Fighting Tigers to only 6-of-28, 21.4%, including 0-of-7 from three-point range. The Eagles also received a strong interior effort from junior forward Cameron Anderson, Charlottesville, Va., Blue Ridge High School, who registered a thunderous dunk to give Green Mountain the halftime lead.
But in the second half, Cobleskill exploded for a season high of 54 points on a scorching 20-of-26 from the field, 76.9%, and 14-of-20, 70.0%, from the charity stripe. After the visitors tied the contest at 38-38 with 12:37 remaining in regulation on a free throw by freshman guard Tre Hysell, Rutland, Vt., Rutland High School, the Fighting Tigers outscored their opponents from Vermont 37-to19 to secure the victory.

Alexis Nunez, White Plains, N.Y., White Plains High School, with 21 points, four rebounds and three assists while junior center
Travis Woods, Mount Upton, N.Y., Unatego High School, scored a season high of 17 points to go with seven rebounds and a blocked shot on the night.
The Orange & Black also received strong efforts from: forward
Mike Chapman, Brooklyn, N.Y., School for Democracy & Leadership, who tallied 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, senior swingman
Dane Brown, White Plains, N.Y., White Plains High School, who scored 10 points and took down seven rebounds and senior point guard
Bryan Backus, Walton, N.Y., Walton High School/SUNY Delhi, who had a career high of 10 steals along with six assists and four points.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Friday November 21 when they travel to Oneonta, N.Y. to face Oneonta State in the Mayor's Cup Tournament hosted by Hartwick College at the Hawks' Lambros Arena beginning at 6:00 p.m. prior to meeting the host Hawks  on Saturday November 22 at 4:00 p.m.
