Washington, D.C.: The woes of the SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball program continued on Saturday afternoon as the Fighting Tigers dropped a 58-34 road decision at Gallaudet University in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 1-8 overall on the year with a 0-4 record in conference play while the Bison improve to 5-6 on the campaign with a 4-3 mark versus NEAC competition.
Once again the Fighting Tiger offense continued to struggle as the visitors could only connect on 14-of-60 shots from the field (23.3%) while committing 30 turnovers in the contest. Cobleskill was also out rebounded by the Bison by a 50-41 margin on the afternoon.
Sophomore
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, was the team's leading scorer and rebounder but saw her streak of eight consecutive double-doubles snapped as she could only manage 12 points and nine rebounds on the afternoon while junior forward
Cassie Beaver, Sherburne, N.Y., Sherburne-Earlville High School, chipped in seven points and seven rebounds in the loss.
The Fighting Tigers will close out their weekend road trip on Sunday when they travel to Chambersburg, Pa. to face the Phoenix of Wilson College in a NEAC contest beginning at 12:00 p.m.
