Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball extended their current winning streak to six games Saturday afternoon at the Iorio Gymnasium as the Fighting Tigers downed North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) newcomers Penn College of Technology by a 71-57 margin. The victory improves Cobleskill's overall record to 7-8 on the year with a 5-2 mark in NEAC action while the Wildcats fall to 2-13 overall including a 1-8 conference record.
Substituting liberally throughout the contest the Fighting Tigers had 10 different players score in the contest that saw the Orange & Black stifle the visitor's offense holding them to only 21-of-53, 39.6%, from the field including 7-of-28, 25.0%, from three-point range.
Freshman sharpshooter
Brian Jackson, Bronx, N.Y., Global Enterprise Academy, was the key to the victory for Cobleskill shredding the Wildcats for a game high 19 points along with four rebounds while senior forward
Mike Chapman, Brooklyn, N.Y., School for Democracy & Leadership, added eight points and five rebounds in the contest.
The Cobleskill bench also continued its strong play that has keyed the current winning streak as junior point guard
Michael Hutchinson, Brooklyn, N.Y., Prospect Heights High School, scored eight points and passed out three assists, senior forward
Cortrell King, Brentwood, N.Y., Upper Room Christian High School/Suffolk Community College, scored six points, blocked three shots and made three steals along with freshman guard
Malik Chambers, West Point, N.Y., James I. O'Neil High School, who contributed six points and two assists to the win.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Wednesday January 28 when they host conference rival Morrisville State at the Iorio Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 p.m.
