SUNY Cobleskill Men Claim Seventh Straight Victory With 76-66 Win Over Morrisville State

Fighting Tigers Move to Top of NEAC North Division Standings With Win Over Mustangs


Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team extended their current winning streak to seven games as the Fighting Tigers downed three-time defending North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Champion Morrisville State College at the Iorio Gymnasium on Wednesday evening. The victory evens the Cobleskill overall record at 8-8 on the campaign including a NEAC North Division leading 6-2 mark while the Mustangs fall to 5-11 overall including a 2-7 record in conference play.

In the end the Fighting Tiger inside game proved to be too much for the visitors as junior center Travis Woods, Mount Upton, N.Y., Unatego High School, scored a team high 20 points to go with three rebounds and a pair of blocked shots, senior forward Cortrell King, Brentwood, N.Y., Upper Room Christian School/Suffolk Community College, scored 13 points along with eight rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots and senior forward Mike Chapman, Brooklyn, N.Y.,  School for Democracy & Leadership, scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds in the win.

Senior point guard Alexis Nunez, White Plains, N.Y., White Plains High School, chipped in 11 points to go with four rebounds with junior guard Brian Jackson, Bronx, N.Y., Global Enterprise Academy, scoring 12 points on the evening. Senior Bryan Backus, Walton, N.Y., Walton High School, was also a major factor in the win contributing seven points, eight assists, four rebounds and four steals to the victory totals.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday January 31 when they travel to Utica, N.Y. to face league rival SUNY Polytechnic Institute beginning at 3:00 p.m.
