Men's Basketball Posts Road Win Over SUNY Polytechnic 69-59 in NEAC Action

Fighting Tigers Win Eighth Straight to Remain on Top of NEAC North Division

Utica, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team used a combination of efficient offense and aggressive defense to post a 69-59 road win over the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The victory improves the Fighting Tigers to 9-8 overall on the season to date including a NEAC North Division leading 7-2 record in league action. The Wildcats fall to 6-11 overall with a 5-4 record in conference play with the defeat.

Offensively the Fighting Tigers notched one of their best shooting efforts of the season as the visitors connected on 26-of-47, 55.3%, shots from the field while holding the home team to a mere 14-of-44, 31.8%, from the field to extend their current winning streak to a season high of eight games.

Senior guard Alexis Nunez, White Plains, N.Y., White Plains High School, once again proved to be a Wildcat killer as the Fighting Tiger co-captain scored a game high 22 points to go with a pair of assists in the victory and secure a season sweep over SUNY Polytechnic.

The Fighting Tigers inside players proved the rest of the fire power to move the Orange & Black past the Wildcats as junior center Travis Woods, Mount Upton, N.Y., Unatego High School, scored 11 points, took down seven rebounds and blocked a shot, senior forward Cortrell King, Brentwood, N.Y., Upper Reading Room High School/Suffolk Community College, scored 10 points, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked a pair of shots and senior forward Mike Chapman, Brooklyn, N.Y., School for Democracy & Leadership, scored 10 points and had five rebounds on the afternoon.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday February 4 when they travel to Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, N.Y. to face the Wildcats in NEAC action beginning at 7:00 p.m.
