SUNY Cobleskill Loses 76-66 NEAC Road Decision to Cazenovia College

Fighting Tigers Eight-Game Winning Streak Comes to an End at Cazenovia

Cazenovia, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Wildcats of Cazenovia College by a score of 76-66 on Wednesday evening in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 9-9 overall on the season with a 7-3 mark in NEAC play while the Wildcats improve to 8-11 on the campaign including a 6-5 record in league action. The loss also drops Cobleskill into a tie with Keuka College on top of the NEAC North Division with identical 7-3 conference marks.

The Fighting Tigers got off to a slow start as early foul trouble coupled with poor shooting put the host Wildcats up 39-20 at the half. However at the start of the second half, Cobleskill began one of their familiar comeback efforts, which saw the Orange & Black tie the game at 48-48 with 8:38 remaining in regulation.
But that was as close to the lead as the visitors would get as the Wildcats responded to Cobleskill's run with a 10-to-0 run which made the score 58-48 with 5:48 remaining to effectively put the game in the win column for the home team.

Senior forward Cotrell King, Brentwood, N.Y., Upper Christian Reading Room High School/Suffolk Community College, had 17 points and six rebounds on the evening while junior swingman Brian Jackson, Bronx, N.Y., Global Enterprise Academy, Chipped in 10 points. Cobleskill also received a season high 12 points off the bench from junior guard Michael Hutchinson, Brooklyn, N.Y., Prospect Heights High School, which was a season high for the reserve point guard.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Saturday February 7 when they travel to Bryn Athyn, Pa. to face the Lions of Bryn Athyn College in NEAC play beginning at 3:00 p.m.
