Utica, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team saw their current losing streak extended to five games on Saturday afternoon as the Orange & Black dropped a 55-34 decision to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival SUNY Polytechnic on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops Cobleskill to 2-13 overall on the season with a 1-9 mark in conference play while the Wildcats improve to 11-6 overall including a 9-1 conference record.
The Fighting Tigers offense once again mirrored the cold upstate New York weather as Cobleskill connected on only 13-of-53, 24.6%, from the field including only 1-of-11, 9.1%, from three-point range while shooting a frigid 7-for-17, 42.1%, from the free throw line. The visitors also committed 23 turnovers in the contest as the Wildcat defense proved to be formidable throughout the contest.
Sophomore
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in defeat for the visitors giving her 14 double/doubles in 15 games played this year.
Cobleskill will return to action on Wednesday February 4 when the team travels to Cazenovia, N.Y. to meet the Wildcats of Cazenovia College in NEAC action beginning at 5:00 p.m. Â Â
