Cobleskill, N.Y.: The turnover bug plagued the SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team in their season opener versus the Engineers of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Sunday afternoon at the Iorio Gymnasium as the Fighting Tigers dropped a 75-46 decision to the Engineers. With the loss Cobleskill opens the campaign with a 0-1 record while RPI starts off the season 1-0.
The turnover line constantly hurt the Fighting Tigers throughout the afternoon as 22 turnovers led directly to 24 RPI points with 13 first half miscues leading to a 37-19 Engineer advantage at the break from which the visitors never looked back.
Junior swingman
Brian Jackson, Bronx, N.Y., Global Enterprise Academy, was the home team's top scorer with 12 points on the afternoon while junior forward
Garrett Pitcher, East Berne, N.Y., Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School/Hudson Valley Community College, had seven points and six rebounds in his debut. Sophomore center/forward
Christian Cooper Gilboa, N.Y., Gilboa-Conesville High School, also played solid minutes for the Orange & Black coming off the bench to contribute eight points and a pair of rebounds.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday November 17
th when they travel to Troy, N.Y. to meet the Gators of Sage College beginning at 7:30 p.m.
