Fighting Tiger Women's Basketball Falls on the Road to MCLA 62-44

Trailblazers Take Advantage of 23 Turnovers to Post Win Over Cobleskill


North Adams, Mass.: The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) women's basketball team held visiting Cobleskill to 25% shooting as the host Trailblazers topped the visiting Fighting Tigers 62-44 in non-conference action.  With the win, MCLA evens their overall record at 2-2 while Cobleskill drops to 1-2 on the season.
 
The Fighting Tigers were paced by senior guard/forward Ashley Creighton, Niskayuna, N.Y., Catholic Central/Schenectady Community College, who scored 14 point to go with six rebounds  and by junior forward Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, who posted a double/double with 10 points and a game best 15 rebounds.  Freshman forward Morgan Bullis, Bainbridge, N.Y., Bainbridge-Guilford High School, was also a factor for the visitors coming off the bench to score 10 points and take down eight rebounds.
 
MCLA started fast sprinting out to an 18-6 lead after the first quarter as Courtney Pingelski fueled the offense with all nine of her points in the quarter.  The Trailblazers coasted into halftime leading 36-17 at the break, and were ahead 52-24 heading into the fourth.  
 
Cobleskill made things interesting using a 15-0 run to start the fourth quarter slicing the lead to 52-39 with still 5:36 remaining.  However the Trailblazers had an answer using an 8-0 run of their own to stem the tide and then cruise to the win.
 
On the afternoon MCLA forced Cobleskill into 23 turnovers which led to 27 points for the home team.  Throughout the contest The Trailblazers used full-court pressure to force the Fighting Tigers into 15 steals on the day.
 
The Trailblazers will look to get above .500 on Tuesday November 24th when they head to Becker College in Leicester, Mass. for a 6:00 p.m. while the Fighting Tigers will make their home debut on Tuesday evening playing host to the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College with tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
