Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill and Albertus Magnus College women's basketball teams worked overtime on Tuesday evening as the Fighting Tigers and Falcons went to double overtime at the Iorio Gymnasium. When the feathers and fur finally stopped flying it was the visiting Falcons coming out on top of the contest by a 87-80 margin over the host Fighting Tigers. With the loss Cobleskill falls to 1-3 overall on the year while Albertus Magnus improves to 2-3 overall to date.
Tied at 76-76 heading into the second overtime Albertus Magnus outscored the Orange & Black 11-to-4 in the second extra stanza on the strength of seven points from junior guard Liz Falcigno, Wallingford, Conn., Mercy High School, who finished the contest with 29 points and eight rebounds on the evening.
Cobleskill was led in scoring by senior guard/forward
Ashley Creighton, Niskayuna, N.Y., Catholic Centeral High School/Schenectady Community College, who tossed in 21 points before fouling out in regulation to lead all Fighting Tiger scorers. The Orange & Black also received strong outings from junior forward
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, who had 18 points, a game high 21 rebounds and four assists before fouling out in the first overtime and from junior guard
Shiann Coons, Albany, N.Y., Bishop Maginn High School/Schenectady Community College, who had 19 points, five assists and four rebounds on the evening.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action after the Thanksgiving holiday when they host Union College on Thursday December 3
