Vestal, N.Y.: In their final tune-up for the 2015-16 season the SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team lost to NCAA Division I American East Conference member Binghamton University on Friday evening by a 92-53 margin at the Bearcats' Events Center.
The Fighting Tigers jumped out to an early advantage in the contest holding a 10-7 lead and were tied with their Division I hosts at 12-12 with 14:01 remaining in the first half. However the size and athleticism of the Bearcats were too much for Cobleskill as the home team held the Orange & Black to only 31.5% from the floor, 17-for-54, with a 44-to-33 advantage in the rebounding department.
Junior forward
Garrett Pitcher, East Berne, N.Y., Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School/Hudson Valley Community College, had a strong debut for Cobleskill with a team high of 11 points to go with five rebounds and two assists while junior guard
Quincey Miller, Brooklyn, N.Y., Lafayette High School/Potomac State, had 10 points along with four rebounds and three steals on the evening.
Cobleskill will now open the 2015-16 regular season on Sunday November 15
th when they host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in non-conference action beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Iorio Gymnasium. Admission to all Fighting Tiger regular season home contests if free to the public.
