Cobleskill, N.Y.: Sophomore swingman
Frank D'Esti, Vestal, N.Y., Vestal High School/Broome Community College, hit a turnaround jumpshot from the free throw line over a pair of Keuka College defenders with 2.7 seconds remain in overtime time to lift the SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team to a 59-57 win over the visiting Wolfpack in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play at the Iorio Gymnasium on Saturday. The victory ends a season opening eight game losing streak for the Orange & Black as they improve to 1-8 overall on the year including a 1-0 mark in league action while Keuka falls to 1-5 overall with a 0-2 conference record.
The Fighting Tigers overcame a 26-17 halftime deficit to post the victory which saw the contest knotted at 50-to-50 at the end of regulation. D'Esti scored seven of Cobleskill's nine overtime points as part of a 16 point, three rebound, three steal effort to lift the home team to the victory and end their losing streak.
Cobleskill also received strong contributions from junior forward
Codi Gorman, Watervliet, N.Y., Shaker High School/Hudson Valley Community College, who had 11 points to go with three steals and two rebounds off the bench and from junior guard
Quincey Miller, Brooklyn, N.Y., Lafayette High School/Patomac State College, who netted 10 points and grabbed three rebounds in the win in a reserve role.
The Fighting Tigers will next take to the court on Sunday, December 6
th, when they host The Express of Wells College in NEAC play beginning at 12:00 p.m.
