Fighting Tigers Grind Out Victory Over Penn State Abington 61-52 to Take NEAC North Division Lead

Cobleskill Closes Out Nittany Lions With 16-4 Run to Post NEAC Road Win

Abington, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team notched an important North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) road win on Sunday afternoon outdistancing a scrappy Penn State Abington squad by a 62-51 margin. With the win the Fighting Tigers improve to 11-9 overall with a NEAC North Division leading record of 9-3 in conference play while the Nittany Lions fall to 7-13 overall including a 6-7 conference mark.

The Nittany Lions went to the locker room a halftime leading 28-27 and held the lead throughout the second half until senior forward Cortrell King, Brentwood, N.Y., Upper Christian Reading Room High School/Suffolk Community College, converted inside off a pass from senior guard Alexis Nunez, White Plains, N.Y., White Plains High School, to give Cobleskill the lead at 48-47 with 6:18 remaining in regulation. From that point on, that point on the Fighting Tigers outscored the Nittany Lions14-4 to secure the victory.

Alexis Nunez was the catalyst to the win for the visitors scoring 18 points to go with five rebounds and four assists while Cortrell King once again was impressive off the bench with 16 points, six rebounds and a blocked shot. Junior center Travis Woods, Mount Upton, N.Y., Unatego High School, was also a factor in the victory with 12 points and four rebounds on the afternoon.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday February 11 when they travel to Morrisville, N.Y. to face long-time rival Morrisville State College in NEAC action beginning at 7:00 p.m
