Abington, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team was mauled by host Penn State Abington 67-39 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 2-16 overall on the year with a 1-12 mark in league play while the Nittany Lions improve to 14-4 overall including an 11-3 conference record.
Turnovers once again proved to be the undoing of the Fighting Tigers as 24 Cobleskill turnovers turned into 34 Nittany Lions points on the afternoon.
Senior guard
Loren McKeon, Staatsburg, N.Y., F.D. Roosevelt High School, led the team in scoring with a career high of 13 points while sophomore forward
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, added 10 points and nine rebounds on the afternoon. Junior forward
Cassie Beaver, Sherburne, N.Y., Sherburne-Earlville High School, also reached double figures in scoring for the Orange & Black with 10 points to go with five rebounds.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday February 11 when they travel to Morrisville, N.Y. to face the Mustangs of Morrisville State College beginning at 5:00 p.m.
