The SUNY Cobleskill Department of Sport & Exercise will join the NCAA in the association's  2015 observance of Division III Week – a celebration by member schools of the division's unique philosophy that equally values academics, athletics and student-athletes' involvement in a full and rich campus life – which is set nationwide for the week of April 6 thru April 12, 2015.

Division III week was instituted in 2012 with the purpose of calling attention to the activities and accomplishments of student-athletes by scheduling public events during the week.

The Fighting Tigers will be hosting a number of home athletic contests during the week, sponsoring community service and community engagement activities as well as honoring student-athletes as part of the National Student-Athlete Day Initiative.

On Monday April 6, the Department of Sport & Exercise will serve as the local host site for the 2015 Scotts/Major League Baseball (MLB) "Pitch, Hit, and Run" (PHR) skills competition on hosted rain or shine at the college's playing fields and field house  Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the contest will start promptly at 6:00 p.m. This free competition, administered by the women's softball team, is open to boys and girls no younger than 7 years of age and no older than 14 years old as of July 17, 2015. A copy of the participant's birth certificate will be required for verification. The contestants will compete in the following age groups: 7 & 8 year olds, 9 & 10 year olds, 11 & 12 year olds, and 13 & 14 year olds.

The feastivities will continue on Tuesday April 7 when the Department of Sport & Exercise will highlight the athletic programs: community service, academic achievement and athletic accomplishments with a multimedia retrospective of the year's accomplishments in these areas to be located in the Bouck Hall Lobby with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony to begin at 12:00 p.m.

On Wednesday April 8 SUNY Cobleskill will take part in National Student Athlete-Day a nationwide event recognized by the NCAA since 1994 honoring student-athletes for: their participation in: intercollegiate competition, their success in the classroom and their involvement in community service programs. Fighting Tiger student-athletes will be honored for their accomplishments at an awards ceremony to be held in the Bouck Hall Theater beginning at 1:30 p.m. followed by a small reception in Bouck Hall Room 120.

Thursday April 9 SUNY Cobleskill will honor the program's All-Conference, All-Regional and All-American student-athletes for: their participation in intercollegiate competition with a light reception in the Bouck Hall Ballroom from 12:15 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. with lunch provided by Justine's Restaurant of Cobleskill, N.Y.


As part of a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) community service initiative, the SUNY Cobleskill Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be sponsoring a campus wide Shoe Drive during the week to help local charity organizations to provide footware for those in need. The Shoe Drive will run from Monday thru Sunday during the week with donations being made to a collection box to be located in the lobby of Bouck Hall. On the playing fields, the women's softball team will host SUNYIT for a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader at Fighting Tiger Park beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday April 11 while the men's golf team will also be in action on Saturday hosting the SUNY Cobleskill Spring Invitational at the Canajoharie Golf & Country Club beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Admission to all Fighting Tigers home athletic events is free-of-charge to all: students, faculty & staff and the general public.
