Fighting Tigers Men's Soccer Shut Down By Morrisville State 4-0

Cobleskill Men Dorp 4-0 Decision to Mustangs in NEAC Opener

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College men's soccer team posted its second straight North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory Saturday afternoon, handing visiting SUNY Cobleskill the 5-0 defeat on Drake Field in Morrisville.

The win lifts the Mustangs to 2-2-1 overall, 2-0 in conference play, while Cobleskill drops to 0-4, 0-1 in NEAC action.

Morrisville State got on the board early, just 3:33 into the contest as Julian Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.) buried the one-timer inside the right post off the feed from Jamieson McKoy (Bronx, N.Y.) for the 1-0 Mustang advantage.

Within minutes the lead became 2-0 as Cobleskill suffered an own goal after keeper Tanner Puff (Wallkill, N.Y.) made an outstanding diving save, and one of the Fighting Tigers defenders tapped the ball back over the goal line.

Rodriguez posted his second of the day in the 18th minute, one-timing the ball off a Accele Rando (Thailand / Rome, N.Y.) chip inside the left post.

Cobleskill had a perfect opportunity to get on the board with just over 17 to go, but the direct kick just outside the box sailed wide of the left post.

McKoy made it a 4-0 on the pitch 10 minutes later, chipping the ball over Tanners head as center back Danny Peckham (Webster, N.Y.) launched the ball 40 yards to the forward line.

Morrisville State held the 18-1 advantage in shots in the opening half, with Tanner posting seven stops in the Cobleskill efforts.

The Mustangs added their final score in the 56th minute, as McKoy buried the shot from about 10 out off a pass across the box from midfielder Jeffrey Hado (Tema Ghana).
Tanner finished the contest with 11 saves.

Morrisville State's Eric Berglund (Elmira, N.Y.) recorded the win, appearing in net for the first half before being replaced by Cody Gaines (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) in the second half, Gaines posted two saves.

Morrisville State returns to the field tomorrow, traveling to nearby rival SUNY Polytechnic for a noon kick-off.

Cobleskill hits the pitch tomorrow against Cazenovia, hosting the Wildcats at noon in Cobleskill.
