Williamstown, Pa.: The offensive woes of the SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team continued on Sunday afternoon as the Fighting Tigers were out clawed by host Penn College 1-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The loss, which was the fifth shutout loss for Cobleskill this season, drops the Orange & Black to 0-7 on the year with a 0-3 conference mark while the Wildcats improve to 5-6 overall including a 3-2 NEAC record.
The contest stood scoreless until the 59
th minute when the Wildcats converted on a penalty kick to make it 1-0. The Fighting Tigers could not convert on several subsequent opportunities down the stretch which resulted in the hard fought road loss.
Cobleskill freshman goalkeeper
Tanner Puff, Wallkill, N.Y., Wallkill High School, was a factor in the net for the visitors making five saves on the afternoon and put the New Yorkers in position to win.
The Fighting Tigers will return to NEAC action next weekend with a pair of home contests as on Saturday October 3
rd Cobleskill will host the Lions of Bryn Athyn College in league action with a new starting time of 2:30 p.m. followed with a home contest versus league rival Penn State Abington on Sunday October 4
th starting at 12:00 p.m.
