Williamstown, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to host Penn College on Sunday in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 1-7 overall on the year including a 1-3 conference record while the Wildcats improve to 4-4-2 overall on the season with a 4-0-1 conference record.
Trailing 1-0 in late the first half, the Orange & Black tied the contest in the 44
th minute of play when sophomore forward
Morganne Dick, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, found the back of the Wildcats' net to tie the contest at 1-1 at the break.
The upset minded Fighting Tigers battled their hosts throughout the second half until the 83
rd minute when a Cobleskill defensive breakdown led to an Own Goal which game the Wildcats a 2-1 advantage and the victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Sabrina Adams, Owego, N.Y., Owego High School, recorded nine saves and defended 12 corner kicks against Penn on the afternoon keeping the visitors in contention throughout the contest.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Sunday October 4
th when they host the Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington in NEAC play beginning at 2:00 p.m.
