Morrisville, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team opened the 2016 portion of their schedule on the road Saturday afternoon with a 77-64 loss to Morrisville State College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 1-10 overall on the season including a 1-2 mark in NEAC play while the Mustangs improve to 7-4 overall with a 3-0 conference record.
The Cobleskill defense could not contain the Mustangs three-point shooting during the afternoon as the home team converted on 11-of-17, 64.7%, opportunities to secure the victory.
The Fighting Tiger attack was led by junior swingman
Brian Jackson, Bronx, N.Y., Global Enterprise Academy, who tallied 14 points and four rebounds on the afternoon while junior center/forward
Garrett Pitcher, East Berne, N.Y., Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, chipped in 14 points and six rebounds on the afternoon. Junior swingman
Frank D'Esti, Vestal, N.Y., Vestal High School/Broome Community College, was also a contributor for the visitors in the contest with 12 points and four rebounds.
The Orange & Black will next be in action on Wednesday January 13
th when they travel to Marcy, N.Y. to meet the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute in NEAC action with tip-off slated for 5:00 p.m.
