Marcy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team's struggles continued on Wednesday evening as the Fighting Tigers fell to the host Wildcats of Polytechnic Institute by a 00-00 margin in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 1-11 overall including a 1-3 conference record while the Wildcats improve to 4-7 overall with a 3-0 record in league action.
The Fighting Tigers lead at the end of the first half 34-31 on the strength of a late closing the stanza on a 10-0 run over the last 3:48 to erase a 31-24 deficit. Sophomore guard
Malik Chambers, West Point, N.Y., James I. O'Neil High School, did the bulk of the damage in the run with five points to lead the visitors.
However the second half was all Wildcats as the home team outscored the Orange & Black 41-25 during the stanza. Polytechnic shot an impressive 26-for-52, 50.0%, from the floor in the victory while dominating the backboards by a 42-22 margin.
Malik Chambers led the Orange & Black in scoring with a team high 14 points while junior
Brian Jackson, Bronx, N.Y., Global Enterprise Academy, tallied 11 points on the evening.
Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday January 16
th when they will host the Bison of Gallaudet University for a NEAC contest with tip-off at 1:00 p.m.
